Frequently Asked Questions

We only work with establishments we have personally tried-and-tested and that we would feel comfortable sending our very own family to. We also only work with lodges, individuals and organizations who are ethical, sustainable and truly embody ecotourism. We feel very strongly about this and have seen firsthand the role of conscious tourism in protecting and promoting the wildlife, communities and future of Africa.
We are bound by the refund policies of the establishments we work with, however, on that note, we have strong relationships with establishments and during the pandemic we were able to easily change dates and move things around when guests were no longer able to travel. This flexibility has remained and we will always represent your best interests when negotiating these things. You will also always be kept in the loop and informed of the various policies in place.

Planning an African safari is unlike planning a holiday in most other parts of the world. Distances are vast, logistics can be complex, and conditions on the ground can change quickly. If you're not based in Africa, piecing everything together can be both time-consuming and overwhelming.

Recently, a client shared an AI-generated safari itinerary with us. While we agreed with some of the recommendations, it quickly became clear that the routing simply didn't work. Planning a multi-destination journey across Africa is about far more than joining dots on a map. It requires an understanding of road conditions, border crossings, seasonal accessibility, flight schedules, transfer times, wildlife movements and countless logistical nuances that AI simply can't see.

Even Google Maps often struggles to reflect the realities on the ground. A three-hour drive can become an all-day journey. Two destinations that appear close together may require a flight via another city. Some roads become impassable during the rainy season, while flight schedules and transfer times can make or break an itinerary.

This isn't a criticism of AI. We use it ourselves every day, and it's an incredibly valuable tool for research, inspiration and efficiency. It performs exceptionally well in destinations with established tourism infrastructure, predictable road networks and comprehensive transport systems. Africa, however, is wonderfully different. Its complexity, diversity and ever-changing conditions mean that local expertise remains invaluable.

As experienced travel designers, we take care of every detail, from selecting the right destinations and lodges to coordinating flights, road transfers, guides and activities. Our trusted network of partners, built over many years, means you're never left navigating unfamiliar logistics on your own.

The best safari itineraries aren't built by algorithms alone. They're shaped by firsthand experience, trusted relationships, regular site inspections and an intimate understanding of how every moving part comes together to create a seamless journey.

Not at all. In most cases, you'll pay the same rate as you would if you booked directly with a lodge or hotel. As a trusted tour operator, we've negotiated preferred rates with our partners, so there's no additional cost to you.

The difference lies in the experience.

Because we take the time to get to know you, we can also recommend the rooms that best suit your travel style and preferences, something a direct booking simply can't offer. Our long-standing relationships with properties across Africa often unlock added value too. Depending on availability, this may include welcome drinks, room upgrades, a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival or other thoughtful VIP touches that are typically reserved for trusted trade partners and their guests.

No we don’t arrange flights to Africa, but once you touch down here we assist with all transfers - whether that be via road or air. We also arrange VIP welcomes at the airports themselves. We can recommend airlines you should consider to get to Africa, but we do not book these for you.

We do not arrange travel insurance, but we know who to recommend based on our previous clients' recommendations. It's almost important to note that we do not plan any trips unless you take out travel insurance for peace of mind.
