The Power of Trust: Why Relationships Matter in Planning Your Luxury Safari
Published: 1 May 2025
Over the past two decades of curating luxury safaris, one thing has become crystal clear to me: a safari is more than just a vacation, or ‘holiday’ as we like to call it in Africa - it’s a deeply personal, once-in-a-lifetime journey. And to make it unforgettable, it must start with trust.
At Anywhere in Africa Safaris, trust underpins everything we do. It’s not just about selecting the right lodge or planning seamless transfers - it’s about building a relationship with you, the guest. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter itineraries. In fact, I often say, “I don’t do Wham, Bam, Thank You Ma’am itineraries.” That’s just not my style. I take the time to understand your dreams, your preferences, your concerns. That only happens through open, honest, and regular communication.
From our very first conversation, I treat you as an extension of my own family - and I only send guests to places I’d feel 100% comfortable sending my own loved ones to. Your safari should feel like it was made just for you, because it was.

When we work together, it’s never about me pushing an agenda or steering you toward hotels because of commission structures - that’s just not how I do business. While I have a trusted network of relationships and establishments I know deliver, I’m always open to new lodges or routes you’ve dreamed of exploring. My role isn’t to dictate. My role is to listen, guide, and bring your safari to life in a way that feels deeply personal and considered. This may mean multiple Zoom calls, WhatsApps, or back-and-forth emails - and that’s okay. I want you to feel 100% comfortable with the itinerary we create together.

If you’re wondering what this relationship-based approach looks like in practice, I invite you to read our guest reviews. You’ll see a consistent theme: connection, care, and being truly seen throughout the journey. That’s because we’re here for you - not only during the planning stage, but all the way through your safari.

Myself and the team are based in Cape Town, which means we’re in the right time zone - just an hour or two behind or ahead of you when you’re out in the bush or on an Indian Ocean Island. So if there’s a missed charter or experience an unexpected change, you won’t be frantically calling someone in the U.S. who’s asleep while you’re standing on an airstrip in Botswana. We’re awake, available, and ready to act. Because in Africa? Anything is possible.

And speaking of possibilities - I want to be transparent. I only work with budgets starting at $6,000 per person for a five night trip. That’s not because I’m trying to be exclusive - it’s because I never want to compromise on quality, safety, or experience. If your current budget doesn’t allow for that, I’d suggest waiting another year or two and doing it properly. Africa is worth the wait, and when you’re ready, I’ll be here.

Let’s build something unforgettable together.
