Okavango Delta:

The Okavango Delta is one of the world's most pristine wetland ecosystems. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to an incredible array of wildlife. The best time to visit is from May to September, when the delta's waters flood the plains creating safaris seen from every dimension as you Mokoro (traditional dugout canoe), motor-boat or game drive your way through the Delta whilst looking at an abundance of wildlife on the water’s edge. Safari activities are at their prime during this period, with excellent game-viewing opportunities.

Chobe National Park:

Chobe National Park, known for its massive elephant herds, is a must-visit destination. The best time to experience Chobe is from May to October when the dry months cause wildlife to compete and congregate around the dwindling water sources and Chobe River - boat safaris and game drives are truly incredible!

Moremi Game Reserve:

Situated within the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa - trust us on this one! Visit during the dry season (May to October) for prime Big 5 game viewing. However, during the wet season, the lush vegetation provides a unique experience, particularly for birdwatchers and photographers, so we always say that this really is a year-round destination!

Kalahari Desert:

The Kalahari Desert covers much of Botswana's land, offering a stark contrast to the wetlands. We recommend visiting this arid region during the cooler, dry season from May to September. Experience unique desert wildlife and the rich culture of the indigenous San Bushman people who have called this land home for thousands of years.

Central Kalahari Game Reserve:

This is the largest game reserve in Botswana, yet it is still a remote wilderness where tourists are far and few between. Visit during the wet season, from December to April, when the desert springs to life with some much-needed rain; attracting herbivores and their predators, as well as amazing stark contrasting colors - perfect for a photographic safari!

Makgadikgadi Pans:

The vast salt pans of Makgadikgadi are a sight to behold - with sunglasses on, of course! The best time to visit is during the dry season (June to October) when the pans are relatively dry and game viewing is excellent. Witness the spectacle of the zebra and wildebeest migration, known as the "second largest migration in Africa." This migration in November/December is triggered by the rains. The journey takes a few weeks, and the herds remain in the Makgadikgadi area, feeding on the nutritious grass for about three months - December/January to February/March.

Linyanti and Selinda Reserves:

These private concessions offer exclusive, low-impact safari experiences and we have many establishments which we work with and have personally gone and stayed at. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from May to October, when wildlife congregates around water sources, providing exceptional game viewing opportunities and fights over natural resources.

Tuli Block:

The Tuli Block is a unique region characterized by rock formations and a variety of wildlife. The best time to visit is during the dry season (May to October) when wildlife is more concentrated, and the climate is milder for exploring on foot or by vehicle.

What to Pack:

  • Neutral-colored Clothing: Earth-toned, lightweight clothing is suitable for blending in with the natural surroundings and keeping cool.

  • Binoculars and Camera: A pair of good binoculars and a camera with a telephoto lens to capture the incredible wildlife and landscapes. Although a good cell phone camera does wonders too!

  • Safari Gear: Sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and insect repellent are essential.

  • Sturdy Footwear: Comfortable, closed-toe shoes or boots for walking safaris and protecting your feet. Light sandals for around the camps or lodges.

  • Personal Items: Don't forget essentials like your passport, visas, yellow fever if you are coming from a yellow fever country, and any required medications.

  • First Aid Kit: Basic medical supplies, any prescribed medications, and rehydration tablets. Although, we do have ground handlers who can assist if there are any emergencies. However, we do not recommend relying on this as you very often, hours away from a nearby town.

  • Reusable Water Bottle: Reducing plastic waste is important, so bring a refillable water bottle for the journey.
